When asked if they would consider adopting a child, many people say, "Only if I could not have a child of my own." True, babies are adopted so frequently parents turn to other countries for them and there are even kidnappings where the baby is sold. However, kids over the age of four have a severely decreased chance of getting adopted, and the number goes down each year.
These kids don't just disappear. They go from home to home, are usually separated from their siblings, and can get lost in the system. The group homes, perhaps more commonly known as orphanages, can be anything from a foster home where someone has opened their home to a few kids, to a larger building stuffed to the breaking point with bunk beds and the people running it only know who is there through paperwork.
When these kids turn eighteen they are out. Many go into the military, as there are few options open. Think for a moment though, that you're in college. No going home on the weekends to get your laundry done, no care packages, nothing. When you're not living in the dorm you're in an apartment, trying to work and pay rent.
Now to work... when asked for an emergency contact, most can only write 911. As there is no one they can turn to. So think for a second about what you want. Do you want to have a baby, add another life to the vast existing population, or would you rather adopt a child- and their siblings with any luck- and give that child the life you would dream for your own?
If you died and your kids were left to strangers, wouldn't you want someone to care for them? Why is it any different this way? I'm not even beginning to say these kids are a charity case to be pitied. I'm just saying that we are a society. A community. Most religions say we are all family.
Well there are family members, daughters and sons, being forgotten, and I know it's time to take notice.

What About Horror Movies Scares You? Why?
Horror Movies
Why? Because I know a few people who are terrified by them, and others who enjoy them but wonder WTF is up with some of them. So, while Halloween is still far away, I thought Id write a journal about horror movies that are not really the traditional Halloween stories. The difference between a regular horror and a Halloween horror goes a lot with the time limit. Is this a one-a-year thing, or can it happen anywhere? Well delve deeper into that in October. For now, heres horror movies for the other 364 days.
Understanding the method.
Lets start with what you are almost guaranteed to see when you enter in
How are you getting screwed today?
So, I've decided to try and turn this journal into a blog of useful advice. I hope you enjoy and it helps, let me know so I'll know if I should keep this up or not. :blahblah:
Grocery Store
First off, you all know the 'do not enter when starving' rule, but your stomach isn't the only thing that can betray you at the store. Your brain controls your actions on levels you're not even aware of, and companies spend lots of cash to study and learn to influence your behavior- which is why when you walk into the store you often smell food being made and see fresh produce :orange: and often flowers as well. Those things get you in a good mood and ma
This Heart of Mine
:heart:Happy V-day everyone!
For the procrastinators out there, you maaaay want to start thinking about a card and flowers :rose: for that special someone.
For those of you who are single and not in the mood to be sour on this holiday, I offer the following ideas.
1. Buy something for a friend. With that comes the warning about making sure it's clear that you're just in a gift giving mood and were thinking about them, unless you really like the person. :date:
2. Live it up. Just designing things for V-day can get you in the spirit. Throw a party with a V-day theme. Draw something. Write something. Let the holiday spirit wash over y

Plans, Plots, Parties
Hey guys, what's up?
My birthday is FINALLY on a Friday! So I'm hoping people will come hang out. I have to go to work Saturday morning... but whatever. I'm actualy kind of excited. Usualy I celebrate during the summer since everyone has always had midterms, but now most of my friends don't have school. Still, I'm not sure what I'll actualy do on the 10th. I might just hang out and then around 7PM Pacific time I'll get on Steam and anyone else who is willing can join me in killing zombies.
News, it's all that's new
Yeah, I sucked at NANOWRIMO. You speed demons amaze and impress me. I just can't seem to do that anymore

On a final note, because I really don't feel like fighting my own friends on this issue. Yes, it's hard. Yes, it's expensive. But it could mean the difference of life or death to a child in need. That, to me at least, is worth fighting for.
